It was with great regret that the owners of this magnificent Sycamore believed to be around 250 years old approached us with a view to removing. Due to the extent of the disease and the close proximity to the house sadly there was no other option. Work began on the dismantling. The owners had alway's intended to kept a portion of the trunk to create a play area for their children. On reaching the lower area just above the two main leaders the extent of the decay became obvious. The tree was almost completly hollow!. Enough room for the children to actually get inside. Derek asked the client if she would like a window, appearing a bit bemused by the idea she agreed and the Tree house idea was born, the end result is most unusual. The client is delighted and it will give the children much pleasure for many years to come. More importantly this lovely old tree has been given a new lease of life and it will still form a part of the landscape all be it in a different shape and form.
LARCH INTO TOADSTOOL
Suggested this to the client as an option to keep a reminder of the tree. Delighted with the outcome. Bit of a conversation piece and something for the grand children to play on.
